Sharon Evans was born and raised near Sweetwater, Tennessee. She now resides in nearby Madisonville.
In 1987, Sharon began participating in arts and crafts shows and discovered that her work would sell. She is locally known for her hand-painted feathers, leaves, drums, deerskins, and cow skulls..
Sharon and her husband travel extensive on their Goldwing Motorcycle. From her travels in the West and Canada she has accumulated a number of pictures and memories from which to paint.
Having very little formal training, Sharon is a self-taught artist. Her paintings reflect a western flavor with Indians and wildlife being her favorite subjects.
Realizing the print market and the art field is very competitive, but encouraged by her friends and family, in April, 1988, at age 40, Sharon released her first print Sitting Bull.
Sharon's great love and respect for the Native American is evident in the many Indian portraits she has painted. Chief Joseph is admired by Sharon as one of the great Indian Chiefs. Sharon resides only a few miles from the birthplace of Sequoyah and near Chota, and is continuously inspired by the surrounding Cherokee heritage, as will be evident by future releases.
